The focus of today’s weather will be on the central plains from Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, because of the threat for severe storms that will be capable of producing torrential downpours, large hail, damaging winds gusts and devastating long-lived tornadoes.
What is also a big concern about the severe weather activity in this part of the country is that some of the worst weather could occur during the evening and overnight hours. People in these locations need to keep a watchful eye to the sky and keep tuned into locar media outlets as well as NOAA weather radio for the latest on the rapidly changing a potentially dangerous weather conditions.
The reason for this threat of dangerous and destructive storms in the south is due to a developing storm system in the plains and colder drier air behind these storms clashing with warm moist gulf air out in front. This along with help from the Jet Stream sets the stage for severe weather conditions.

Along the southern and eastern Great Lakes we will see the stretch of very delightful spring weather come to an end with some passing showers and a few more clouds than we have seen over the past few days. Many of us had temperatures in the 60s and in some places near 70, but with the passing of a cold front and some scattered showers Wednesday our temperatures will begin to return to more seasonal levels which are temperatures in the 50s and 40s in Erie, PA and Rochester, NY.
Thursday will be another nice day but temperatures could be 10 to 15 degrees colder than they have from earlier in the week but that nice weather will be short lived as the storm that is causing problems with severe weather in the plains will slide north and east and bring a chance of showers and possibly some strong storms to the southern shores of Lake Erie by Friday.

Going into the weekend the recent warm spring weather will be a memory as much colder air that is below the seasonal average arrives by the end of the weekend for parts of the Midwest, Great Lakes and the Northeast.
By Sunday night into Monday it will be unsettled with a chance of showers and some of those showers could even mix with some wet snow flakes. I know at this point in the season and after really enjoying some nice warm spring weather the only thing frozen you want to see is an ice cream or possibly your favorite frozen drink, but yes snow is possible and if you lived in the upper Midwest or the northern Great Lakes you would have seen several inches of snow just through this week and could see more over the next few days.
I don’t see any of this snow sticking around or sticking for that matter but it is still to far out to really say for sure.
