I found a post over at Phillyweather.net, about the upcoming Winter of 2007-2008 looking at the model we call the EURO or the ECMWF. It appears to be keeping with the trend of a La Nina winter. The ECMWF (aka the EURO) computer model recently released a long-range forecast for temperatures for the tropical and subtropical latitudes (essentially think of anything south of Hatteras) for the upcoming winter. Granted it is just one computer model and granted it is forecasting out nearly six months (through the end of February), so one must take these type of forecasts at face value. Hi Brian:
I was just wondering if there is a post out yet on the winter outlook for 2008 for the Great Lakes. I live in Canton, MI between Ann Arbor and Detroit. I love winter, but for the last 15 years or so we have not really had much of a good Mi. winter. Our winters have been mild and down here in this part of the state we don’t get much snow as it turns to freezing rain or just plain melts on contact because of above freezing temps. Any official word on what to expect in this part of the country?
