One of the models has gotten a little bullish on bringing rain into Indianapolis Saturday for the 500 Festival Parade and for actual raceday. There is not a main feature over the next few days just a weak front to the north of Indiana. This boundary will be mainly north of Indianapolis Saturday and Sunday but out ahead of it moisture will begin to move in and make the atmosphere very moist. With temperatures near 80 degrees showers and thunderstorms could develop but they would be very scattered or isolated.
What does isolated mean? Well as it sounds, there will be opportunity for single thunderstorms or cluster of storms to develop and form across the state and the Ohio Valley. I have seen this forecast many times before for a 500 and many times you can get a race in. It would be better if the race started like it used to at 11am but with a 1pm start to you do put the race in the heating of the day. This increases a chance of rain to make its way or develop around the track.
