Gustav is Weaker but No One is in the Clear #gustav

Gustav Enters the Gulf of Mexico

Gustav has had a very impressive day since I updated Saturday morning. It became a category 4 hurricane with sustain winds of 150 mph right before it made landfall in western Cuba. Now Gustav’s center is back over water and has entered the southeastern Gulf of Mexico.

Gustav Becomes a Major Hurricane

Overnight while most of us were sleeping Gustav rapidly intensified into a major hurricane. As of the 8 a.m. public advisory from the NHC, Gustav’s maximum sustain winds were 120 mph which is a strong category 3 and 11 mph away from becoming a category 4.
