FORECAST DISCUSSION Thursday 7:00 am EDT:

A cold front will slide through the state of Indiana, this will aid in producing showers and possible thunderstorms through the day. Some of the storms could produce some very heavy rain. Once this front passes drier and cooler air will arrive. For Carb Day on Friday it will be very nice out at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The Indianapolis 500 Festival Parade also looks to have some nice weather but warmer as temperatures warm into the mid 80s.

Sunday for the 94th running of the Indianapolis 500 we will have nice weather, clouds and sunshine and it will also be warm. I feel pretty good that rain will not cause any problems this Sunday but one of the computer models I looked at wanted to spark a few isolated showers or storms into the afternoon. I will watch that as we get into the weekend and you can expect updates here.

There’s just a chance of a few scattered showers this afternoon and more showers as a weak front moves through Indiana on Thursday. This system will spark a few showers or thunderstorms. Once this system passes high pressure will quickly build in and skies will be sunny and it will be cooler and less humid. Looks like great weather for all the pre-race and race day activities this weekend

Only made a few tweaks to the forecast. Added showers to Wednesday but just like Thursday these showers will be isolated to maybe scattered. Temperatures will also remain warm Wednesday and Thursday.

A cold front sweeps through Thursday and in its wake will be cool and comfortable weather for Carb Day, the Parade and the Indy 500. Should be a nice weekend for 500 miles of racing.

This is a nice looking forecast with Carb Day on Friday, 500 Festival Parade on Saturday and the 94th running of the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing” the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday couldn’t ask for a better forecast. I have been to several over the past 20 years (I think I’ve only missed a total of 4) and have sat through all kinds of weather. In my professional and personal opinion, if this forecast holds true, this may be one of the best forecast for a 500 in a long time. Will have updates through the week as we get closer to the Indianapolis 500

Weather looks good, FINALLY, for activities out at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This weekend is Qualifying weekend with Pole Day today and Bump Day tomorrow. Weather looks good and fair for the weekend. It will get warm to start next week and each afternoon Monday even into Thursday could have some isolated storms form during the heating of the day. I had quite a few followers on Twitter ask that I do a forecast for Indianapolis 500 qualifying weekend as well as the Indianapolis 500 weekend. This won’t take away from my normal NASCAR forecasting duties.

Forecast looks great for this weekend. The Indy 500 has changed it’s pole qualifying procedures. On Saturday, Pole Day, the 500 will try and qualify the 1st 24 spots. Then the top 9 qualifiers come back and re-qualify for the pole in the last 90 min of the day. They are calling this a kind of “Shootout” for the pole. On bump day, Sunday, the last 9 spots will be filled and other cars can try and “bump” their way into the Indianapolis 500

FORECAST DISCUSSION Saturday 9:30 am EDT:

The first part of Saturday will be mainly dry but clouds will be on the increase through the daytime hours ahead of a storm system moving in from the southwest. By the afternoon, scattered rain showers will begin to move northeast out of Oklahoma and Kansas with rain becoming more likely through the evening hours. Fortunately, rain will quickly move through the region this evening, and will likely be out of the area by midnight.

For Saturday’s Izod Indy Car race at 1:30pm EDT and then NASCAR Camping World Truck Series qualifying could be dealt a soggy blow. Especially of the rain begins to increase towards midday rather than the afternoon. The Indy cars may end up racing the weather.

Sunday is dry and comfortable with partly sunny skies no problem for the Truck race scheduled for 12:30pm

FORECAST DISCUSSION Friday 6 am EDT:

Cold front will push out of Kansas later today, but as it does it will produce showers and thunderstorms for most of the day Friday. There will be some dry time but overall the day looks to be fairly damp. This doesn’t impact the Camping World Truck series but it will for the Izod indy car practices and qualifying.

Saturday is mainly dry, the front stalls and slows a little to the east so I will keep the mention of a shower around especially in the afternoon but I think a lot of the practices and qualifying could get in for the NCWTS and even the Izod Indy car race scheduled for 1:30pm EDT could probably get in as well as Truck qualifying afterwards.

Sunday is dry and comfortable with partly sunny skies no problem for the Truck race scheduled for 12:30pm

The wettest day looks to be Friday with a cold front bringing a threat of showers, storms and some could potentially be severe. As the system passes Friday night into Saturday a few lingering showers and storms could be around for practice, and possibly qualifying and the Izod Indy car race on Saturday as well. My overall feeling is that if there will be any showers or storms on Saturday they should be for the first part of the day. It looks like we will be dry for Sunday’s Camping World Truck Series race.
